Warmwater Bite good Early and Late

SLUURP! I don't know of anyone that doesn't enjoy a topwater bite you can hear! Topwater baits are still drawing strikes early and late in the day on most of our ponds and lakes. Myself and FRA guide Patrick Knackendoffel had a chance to chase smallies @ Horsetooth Res. this past week. Although the Res. is dropping dramatically fishing was good early dropping off as the sun hit the water. Shad imitations on sinktip lines produced occasional fish suspended near dropoffs after things got bright. If the water elevations settle expect fishing to improve- cloudy days will also extend the action. As on most of our local gravel pits, frog patterns proved appetizing (can't say I've ever seen a frog @ horsetooth, but oh well) in sizes #1/0 -4.
